The 2026 NFL Draft picture is starting to take shape with the NFL Scouting Combine just around the corner. Prospects are making calls on how much they want to show in Indianapolis.

Some are sticking with their college tape and skipping the workouts. Others see it as a shot to make their case in person.

Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson is in that second camp. He’s viewed as the clear QB2 in this class behind Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, but his path to the first round isn’t guaranteed yet.

Simpson has never shied away from proving himself, and that reputation followed him throughout his time in Tuscaloosa. So, it makes sense that he’s planning to throw at the Combine.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Simpson will participate in the on-field passing session next week.

For a quarterback trying to cement his draft position, the decision carries weight. Simpson wants teams to watch him work instead of just grading him off film. His stock has been uneven, particularly after a rough finish to his final season at Alabama.

In his lone year as the starter in Tuscaloosa, Simpson completed 64.5 percent of his passes for 3,567 yards with 28 touchdowns and five interceptions. Early in the season, some scouts viewed him as a safe top-10 selection.

But things cooled off down the stretch. Over his last five games, Simpson threw for only 780 yards and six touchdowns.

The drop-off was noticeable, and evaluators have pointed to nagging injuries and steady pressure from interior defensive linemen as possible explanations.

Simpson gets a chance to address those concerns at Lucas Oil Stadium, and he’s not passing it up.
