TCN Restores Kainji-Birnin Kebbi 330kV Transmission Line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored electricity supply along the Kainji to Birnin Kebbi 330kV Single Circuit Transmission Line, nearly four weeks after a tower collapse forced it out of service.

TCN disclosed in a statement that the line was returned to service at 5:24 pm on Thursday, 1 October 2026. It had been down since Tower 367 collapsed on 7th September 2026 at Yauri.

According to TCN, the restoration was achieved by erecting an Emergency Restoration System (ERS) tower at the location of the collapsed structure.

The company said the works involved dismantling and decommissioning the fallen tower, aligning and preparing the conductors and skywire, erecting the ERS tower, and carrying out other associated works needed to bring the line back safely.

it said its engineers worked round the clock to complete the job and return the line to service as quickly and safely as possible.

The company thanked electricity consumers in the affected areas for their patience and understanding during the outage, and said it remains committed to maintaining a stable and reliable transmission network.
