Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow spoke about how it felt to be on the mound after his solid 2026 Cactus League debut Thursday.
Glasnow pitched into the third inning against the Chicago White Sox, retiring the first six batters he faced and striking out four of them. He allowed a single hit in the third before coming out, and after the runner eventually crossed the plate he received the earned run.
“Just kind of took what I was doing last year into this spring and stayed with it,” Glasnow said. “Normal build up. It felt good.
“…I think mechanically I’ve been in such a good spot since last year. Taking it into the offseason to where it’s just a seamless transition from offseason to in-season.”
Glasnow is one of the Dodgers’ most important pitchers, and manager Dave Roberts expects him to handle a regular workload from the get go.
“If I had to look at guys that I feel really good about right now, to kind of have a normal workload, Tyler and Roki would be at the top with Yamamoto,” Roberts said.
How Important is Tyler Glasnow to the Rotation?
Over the past two seasons, Glasnow has been one of the Dodgers most consistent pitchers while he has been healthy.
He made his first All-Star Game in 2024, posting a 3.49 ERA through 22 starts. He struck out 168 batters in 134 innings, but landed on the injured list for an extended period due to right elbow tendinitis.
Glasnow had an even better year in 2025, posting a 3.19 ERA with the Dodgers, but suffered a shoulder injury early in the season which kept him out until July. He came back strong from the injury, though, and played a key role in the postseason with a 1.69 ERA through six appearances while also logging his first MLB save in the World Series.
If the right-hander can stay healthy through the 2026 season and continue to pitch how he did in his first outing of the new year, he will be one of the Dodgers’ most effective pitchers and a key piece of their rotation next season.
